OUR STORY - Members

Members

At the Property Council, members are the heart of everything we do – from our first day to the present day.

Members have been the heart of everything we do since our foundation. We are a ‘for-purpose’ organisation and that purpose is our members.

The enduring and unique strength of the Property Council down the years has been the deep involvement of members in everything we do.

Our members own our organisation. We speak with their voice. Our members power our events and education, our advocacy and ambitions.

Our industry works best when it collaborates – and that’s why our membership is made up of organisations representing every sector and specialisation in the property industry.

Generations of members have helped to build our industry’s culture of collaboration. And it is this culture that guides everything we do, supporting good governance, effective advocacy and global recognition for our cutting-edge innovation, great place-making and our property leaders.

Our long line of distinguished national and division presidents has provided us with invaluable leadership. Our Board is made up of national and local industry leaders from around Australia who guide the Property Council at every step, sending a strong signal to our industry that collaboration is central to our success. Our state division councils shape our strategic agenda. And our committees – which attract thousands of nominations each year – drive our ambitious work programs.

In our 50thyear, more than 1,800 industry volunteers, from seasoned professionals to rising stars, give their time and talents to serve on Property Council committees coast to coast. They lead policy and advocacy on a host of important issues, from taxation to future trends, diversity to sustainable development.

This network has been providing on-the-ground knowledge and insights since the earliest days of our inception – and this drives our advocacy efforts across Australia.

Whether it’s sharing important information on capital values or vacancy rates, shaping new policy papers or reviewing legislation, determining a common approach to building quality or leading from the front on global issues like sustainability and diversity, our members have always understood that cooperating produces collective benefits. And that’s why many of our industry reports, research and guides, world-leading when they were first launched, remain unique today.

Our members have always had a strong voice, led by committed individuals, and this has positioned the Property Council as a national authority. Years before the world was connected by the internet, our committees mobilised social and business connections to uncover new ideas and perspectives, drive innovation and advocate for our members and their communities.

Whatever the achievement, we co-create it with our members. And our members know the Property Council is their most trusted partner as we chart our course for the next 50 years.
